In today's day and age there are new organizations and groups popping up everyday which claim to help veterans of all kinds. Some of these organizations are doing amazing things while others are taking advantage of those who don't have the resources to find out which groups are legitimate and which are not.

To become an approved charity of Save-A-Vet Charity Riders you don't necessarily have to be a 501(c)(3) organization or even be an organization that has been in existence for many years. We look for groups, charities, events and so fourth that actually help veterans. Everything from nationwide organizations like Save-A-Vet nfp Inc., to a local fire department having a pancake breakfast to raise money for a fireman injured in the line of duty. The only thing that matters to us is that any support we give goes where it is supose to.

Things to look out for. When an organization claims 96 cents from every dollar goes to help veterans, and the CEO is pulling a salary of $250,000 a year. Although the numbers may be accurate, we WILL NOT support a group like this. That is an unreasonable salary for a non-profit organization. We do understand that large organizations sometimes do have to pay some of their employees as full time jobs, but taking advantage of the cause is still wrong and we will not be a part of it. Some good resources to find out these types of breakdowns are free websites such as www.CharityNavigator.org or www2.Guidstar.org. Some groups are to small to belong to sites like this so we encourage these groups to post their financials on their websites showing they are a legitimate organization working for the overall good.

As Save-A-Vet Charity Riders grows so will our approved charities list. The list provided here are groups that have been voted on by active Save-A-Vet Charity Rider Members and been validated through as many means and resources our National Board & Parent Organization have available. If you have a charity, group or organization you would like to introduce to us, please don't hesitate to contact one of our local chapters in your area or one of our national board members.
